Going the Extra Rail for Position

For the sake of accuracy it is sometimes better to play long shots with a firmer stroke. This is especially true toward the end of the game when there are few, if any, possible obstructions. A firm stroke on the 7 with a half tip of right english will send the cue ball four rails for good shape on the 8-ball. This shot is Possible only because the table is wide open.

Difficult Three Ball Run

This layout is tough because all three balls are located on the same rail. The route you choose is a matter of personal preference. When either A or B is executed correctly, the cue ball will wind up at about the same place. A medium hard draw stroke will send the cue ball along route A. A hard stroke with top left english will propel the cue ball along route B.
