Moving a Trouble Ball

Balls on the rail next to the side pocket can be difficult to pocket and to play good shape on. In position A you can easily control the cue ball's path which enables you to get a better shot on the 9. Don't overlook the chance to carom the 7 into the side pocket, off the 9, in position B so you won't be required to play perfect shape on the 9.

Breaking up a Cluster in Traffic

Sometimes a soft stroke and precision cue ball control can enable you to achieve the best results when breaking apart multiple ball clusters. In the example, if you can hit right between the 2 and 8-balls, the cluster will break apart as indicated. You should be left with a shot on the 2-ball into the lower left corner pocket. Remember, it's precision over power.
