ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
Writing and producing this book was a constant reminder of the value of teamwork and being associated with people who shared my enthusiasm for the project. I was very fortunate to have them on my side. I would like to thank all the people mentioned below and any others who I may have missed for their help with this book.
I cannot say enough for the thankless devotion to duty of Chris Donnelly, who was largely responsible for the production of this book. Chris spent untold hours at the computer and was always one step ahead with suggestions for improving the book. Linda Hunt endured my handwriting while cheerfully typing the majority of the text. Thanks so much for a job well done. Susie Massard provided invaluable editing assistance and support for the project Melinda Snyder enthusiastically worked nights on the computer to ensure the book was completed on time.
David Harrington was responsible for the beautiful artwork on the cover. Jim Taylor of Taylor Made Videos provided the camera work for the photos. Danny Kuykendall was kind enough to allow us the use of his pool room for the photos. Thanks to you all.
A special thanks to BCA instructors Roy Yamane and Bob Jewett. Roy helped with ideas on league play and photography. Bob kindly allowed me the use of data from his tests on the throw effect on cut shots. Thanks to Jerry Moreno for his knowledge of the game. Karen Latham offered several ideas for improving the text. Vikki Armistead spent many hours working on ideas for the book. Mike Murad offered advice on the project while Scott Melsinker helped test some of my theories.
Brunswick Billiards of Bristol, Wisconsin provided the illustration of the regulation table. Scott Schrader and Martin Bohn of Valley Recreation located in Bay City, Michigan, were responsible for the drawing of the bar table. I would like to thank both of those fine organizations for their support.
Shirley Donnelly continuously evaluated the book while offering suggestions for its improvement. Thanks also to Chris Donnelly, Jr. and to Sean Donnelly. I appreciate the support of A. L. Johnson and Emil Egeling, who believed in the project from the start. Thanks also to Larry Schultz, Craig Wooldridge, Frank Howsare, Margaret Lukaszewicz, Kamal and Jennifer Sabeh.
Thanks also go to Jeffrey Bean, and to friends like John Houge and others who offered their encouragement. Finally, I appreciate the friendship of Wendy Becker, who has been a believer in my work and has shared her knowledge of the publishing industry with me. Thanks so much to each and every one of you.
